NBA勇士隊的杜蘭特在耶誕夜火力全開，23投11中，攻下36分、15個籃板，不輸騎士隊詹姆斯的丰采，成為1994年皮朋之後，第1位能在耶誕節當天拿下35分、15籃板以上的球員，無奈領先整場比賽的勇士，最後卻輸給騎士隊厄文的絕殺球。

勇士在第4節最後關頭看管不住厄文，讓他切入頻頻得手，他在最後8分鐘獨得14分，與隊友詹姆斯聯手將比分追平105比105，隨後勇士隊柯瑞投進關鍵的三分球，打破僵局。

幾乎領先整場的勇士竟在最後3.4秒被厄文的13呎中距離絕殺，108比109不敵騎士，厄文在最後40秒連進2球，隨著杜蘭特最後一擊落空而贏球，厄文力挽狂瀾，不但成為騎士的致勝英雄，單場7次抄截，寫下耶誕節2項紀錄。

NBA過去20年的耶誕節大戰只有3次出現最後5秒內的絕殺球，第1次是2008年梅森幫助馬刺險勝太陽，第2次2011年羅斯最後4.8秒投進致勝球，公牛氣走湖人，第3次就是此役厄文的神來一投。

此外，厄文單場出現7次抄截，這是NBA史上耶誕節當天比賽的新高紀錄，厄文憑藉逆轉一投，將其他兩位表現優異的詹姆斯與杜蘭特的光環全部搶走。

這場比賽前47分鐘的焦點完全放在杜蘭特與騎士詹姆斯的身上，兩人互別苗頭的味道相當濃厚，杜蘭特23投11中，其中包含2顆三分球；詹姆斯22投12中，4顆三分球，13籃板、4助攻。兩人不論是投籃命中率，或是籃板、助攻次數都不分上下。

然而，詹姆斯與杜蘭特彼此在例行賽交手17次，詹皇取得14勝3敗絕對領先優勢，甚至季後賽也是如此，2012年兩隊會師總冠軍賽，當時詹姆斯率領熱火，杜蘭特代表雷霆，熱火最終4勝1敗摘下總冠軍，杜蘭特至今手上仍缺冠軍戒。
